Tempe Engagement Photos | Cara & Mike

Cara & Mike are tying the knot at the beautiful Hermosa Inn on March 6, 2010 in Paradise Valley.  Mike is an Arizona native and met Cara through her college roommate, Courtney whose wedding I shot last month.

Last weekend we headed out to Mill Avenue in downtown Tempe for an urban engagement session.

Remembering to be Thankful

This time of year is hard for me, the consummate deal-finder.  The onslaught of emails, ads, and twitters offering promotions are so tempting, it makes it hard to remember what this holiday is really all about.

I am thankful for so much: my husband and two wonderful kids, my health, my friends, clients, and the country in which I live.

Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy day of thanks,
Jen

Featured | Wedding Chicks

I just wanted to let everyone know that Courtney and Rich’s wedding was featured on the Wedding Chicks* yesterday!  The Wedding Chicks is blog that shares everything new, classic, funky, hip and just plain fun for weddings.  It is the perfect place for brides-to-be to go to get inspiration and find vendors for their wedding day.  They also sell pretty wedding stationary, signs, tote bags, tanks and tees over at the wc couture shop.

San Pedro Chapel Wedding | Courtney & Rich

Last weekend I packed up the family and headed down to Tucson to photograph Courtney and Rich’s wedding.  Tucson is such a great city.  It just feels so authentic and not so ‘city’ like Phoenix.  Courtney picked the cutest chapel to get married in.  The San Pedro Chapel is a newly restored quaint mission style chapel in the heart of Tucson.  Let’s just say it inspired me.  Every nook and cranny of the place was beautifully rustic.  I had so much fun shooting there!

One thing was apparent to me as the day went on, Courtney and Rich are truly meant to be with one another. And everyone at the wedding will attest to that.

I have never heard so many heartfelt and beautiful speeches as I did at their wedding.

Courtney loves gelato, so why not have it at the reception?

Malaga Cove Plaza Portraits | Yenne Family

While in California recently, I met up with the Yenne family. The weather was beautiful and we headed to the Malaga Cove Plaza for a fun family portrait session. Andrew was a doll! He loved being in front of the camera and playing with his parents. Thanks to the Yenne’s for a great portrait session!

Reno Portraits | Durrer Kids

Last week, I posted pictures from the Durrer family portrait session taken at an amazing abandoned house.  The Durrer kids did such a good job (and are so stinking cute) that they get their very own post!

Another Year Older, Another Year Wiser

Or at least I hope I am. Every year I feel like I am learning more and more, and then I will forget how to spell the word ‘the’ or the three things I need to buy at the supermarket. Age is kind of funny that way. What do you do? All I know is that I love my life more and more every day and am so thankful that I have such wonderful people to share it with!

I will leave you with a picture from my first birthday party. I am the one in the wooden highchair hoarding all the chocolate cake. Thirty-two years later it is still my favorite. Happy birthday to me.

Reno Portraits | Durrer Family

The Durrer family and I go way back.  Laura and I have known each other since we were babies. So when Laura asked me to take their family portraits I was thrilled. We immediately started brainstorming locations. In route to our original location, we drove by an abandoned house that was calling my name. It was perfect!

Speed me up, Workshop!

I have worked in Adobe Lightroom for some time now and really love everything about the program.  It allows me to easily and quickly edit RAW files.  But one can always improve upon their skills.  So when I heard Jared Platt was offering a Lightroom Workflow Workshop, I was pumped!

I attended the workshop yesterday and wow…There was SO MUCH information Jared shared with us!  The biggest thing I took away from Jared’s workshop was his super organized workflow.   His workflow system gave me some wonderful ideas to weave into and improve upon mine.  I really like the idea of placing all the unused images in a separate folder and removing the distractions them from Lightroom altogether prior to editing.

I will be implementing his ideas over the next few months and expect to shave off up to 3 hours of editing time!  I am a happy girl :)

Jared is a great story teller. I snapped this shot of Jared during one of his stories and caught him by surprise. Ha!

Featured | The Bokeh Pot

I was recently interviewed by The Bokeh Pot. This is a seriously cool photography blog that features new photographers each week. Crystal Genes is the creator of this wonderful resource.  She asked me everything from “What is one item you cannot live without?” to “What is the most valuable thing about your business?”  You can read the complete interview here.

It was a pleasure Crystal!
